Have you ever noticed that the IIS manager window always opens in the upper left hand corner of your screen, is small, and not on the site you were last configuring? I always hated that. Every time I opened the window I would have to maximize the window, move the spitter over so I could see the tree view, and navigate down to the default web site.
What if I were to tell you that you could get that window to open like you want. I have just figured out how to get the MMC window to save my settings. When you navigate to the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager under Administrative Tools right-click on the item and select Author. Now configure the window how you want it to open such as size, position, splitter position, and node to select. You can select File > Save or just close the window and click "Yes" to save the settings. Now when you open the window it will be how you like it.
